Husqvarna Norden 901: design and equipment
Husqvarna motorcycles are known for their distinct designs and the new Norden 901 continues in the same vein. The production-spec motorcycle looks markedly similar to the concept that was showcased at EICMA 2019. The round LED headlamp is typically Husqvarna with a neat windshield placed above it. A higher windscreen is available as an optional extra. The LED position lights sit below the headlight and have been nicely integrated as well. It gives the Norden 901 a distinctly Husqvarna identity.
The bodywork consists of flat surfaces and a nice interplay of colours. The tail section is minimal, in keeping with the need to attach luggage to the motorcycle. Also notice the low slung, 19-litres fuel tank, similar to what you see in the KTM 890 Adventure. It offers a claimed range of 400+km. The seat height is quite tall, at 854mm. Overall, the styling is unique for the segment, the way Husqvarnas are always designed to be.
Husqvarna Norden 901: chassis
The Norden 901 shares the frame with the 890 Adventure, suspended by an adjustable 43mm WP Apex USD fork with 220mm travel at the front and a monoshock at the back with 215mm travel. The bike rides on a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, shod with Pirelli Scorpion STR tyres.
Braking duties are taken care of by 320mm floating discs at the front and a 260mm disc at the back.
Husqvarna Norden 901: engine and electronics
The Norden 901 is powered by an 889cc, DOHC, parallel-twin engine that makes 105hp at 8,000rpm and 100Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. It is the same unit that you see in the KTM 890 Adventure. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox that has an up/down quickshifter.
In terms of electronics, there’s cruise control and three ride modes – Street, Rain, and Off-road. An optional Explorer mode gives you the ability to tailor the other modes as per preference. Cornering ABS and traction control is offered as standard.
All settings can be made via the 5.0-inch TFT display that offers Bluetooth connectivity.
Husqvarna Norden 901: competition
The Norden 901 goes up against the KTM 890 adventure and the Triumph Tiger 900 GT and Rally.
