Jaguar TCS Racing reveals new livery
IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation, Tata Consultancy Services will become the title partner of Jaguar’s Formula E team as part of what is revealed to be a “long-term, multi-year partnership”.
The firm has in the past sponsored events such as the New York City Marathon, London Marathon and more. Tata owns Jaguar Land Rover and this new partnership will build on that existing business relationship. A statement released by the company states that TCS’ “experience working with premiere players in the automotive value chain” will prove to be a valuable asset.
The rebranding of the team also brings an all-new livery for 2022. The team heads into Season 8 on the back of its most successful Formula E campaign. Together with drivers Mitch Evans and Sam Bird, Jaguar was second overall in the 2021 Formula E World Championship.
Both drivers remain onboard for the upcoming season, and Jaguar says it is focusing on refining its I-TYPE 5 all-electric racer with software revisions, to improve energy management, pace and efficiency. Another key focus area has been simulating and understanding the new qualifying format.
Formula E tech to aid JLR road car development
The team will also be given additional prominence within JLR’s recently-launched motorsport division. Under this, all the Formula E activity will be used to test, develop, collaborate and share innovations, including EV technologies, across JLR to aid road car development.
Jaguar is hoping this enhanced collaboration will further help the brand’s transition into an all-electric luxury car company from 2025.
As part of the reorganisation, James Barclay takes on the role of managing director at Jaguar Land Rover Motorsport Limited, in addition to his role as Jaguar TCS Racing’s team principal. Jaguar Land Rover CEO, Thierry Bollore, becomes the chairman of the new organisation.
