While the Jeep Compass received a mid-cycle facelift last year, the carmaker didn’t update the off-road focused Trailhawk variant of the SUV. Jeep is now gearing up to introduce the refreshed version of the Compass Trailhawk in India, and we have compiled all the key details you should know.
1. It will get revised styling
One of the big changes over the previous Compass Trailhawk will be the design. Jeep is going to equip the updated Trailhawk with new headlights and grille from the Compass facelift. However, the Trailhawk’s design will also be different from the regular Compass in some ways, like its re-profiled front and rear bumpers – that will sport a more rugged look – and the possibility of a new Trailhawk-specific alloy wheel design.
2. It will continue to get off-road-oriented upgrades
A hallmark of the Trailhawk version of the Compass is its more off-road centric set-up. Hence, just like its predecessor, the new Compass Trailhawk will likely come with Jeep’s ‘Active Drive Low 4x4 system’ with Selec-Terrain drive modes as standard, improved ground clearance and improved approach, departure and breakover angles.
3. It will be well equipped and be the new range topper
Given that the new Trailhawk is expected to replace the Model S as the new range-topping trim in the Compass’ line-up, Jeep will offer it with a lengthy equipment list. The new Trailhawk will get features like a 10.1-touchscreen infotainment system with UConnect 5 and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, connected car technology, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 360-degree parking camera, leather upholstery, front seat ventilation and a panoramic sunroof.
4. It will come with diesel power only
Under the hood, the new Compass Trailhawk will only be available with the 173hp, 350Nm, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with power being sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Jeep won’t offer the standard Compass’ 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine option.
5. It is expected to be produced in limited numbers for India
Jeep is expected to manufacture the new Compass Trailhawk only in limited numbers for our market. The exact number is yet to be announced, though more information will surface closer to launch. In terms of a launch timeline, Jeep is slated to introduce the new Compass Trailhawk in the coming weeks, and is expected to price it between Rs 25 lakh-30 lakh (ex-showroom).
