Royal Enfield has begun delivering the 120th anniversary limited edition 650 twins in India. The bike maker only produced 480 units globally, with 120 units being allocated for Indian customers – 60 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650’s and 60 Interceptor 650’s. The remaining motorcycles have been divided equally between Europe, the Americas and South-East Asia.

Royal Enfield sold 120 units of these limited edition motorcycles through an online sale in India in December last year, and the bikes were sold out in 120 seconds. They had received over 17,000 registrations prior to the sale.

The special edition motorcycles look stunning in their black chrome finish along with an assortment of black components like the engine case and the silencer. The bike also comes with a handcrafted, die-cast badge on the fuel tank as well as hand-painted pinstripes. They also get a number of blacked-out accessories such as flyscreens, engine guards, heel guards, touring and bar-end mirrors.

Apart from these unique bits, the bikes remain standard. It still gets the air-cooled 648cc parallel twin mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bikes have found homes in the garage of some notable individuals, such as the Rear-Admiral of the Indian Navy, Philipose G Pynumootil; Olympian Gagan Narang and actor and director Dhyan Sreenivasan.

The 650 twins platform has been the flagship of the brand since 2018. The motorcycles based on this platform have since garnered significant sales numbers both at home and globally. Royal Enfield is now developing other 650cc motorcycles including a cruiser that was spotted testing.

Do you think RE should come out with a blacked-out colourway based on this? Let us know in the comments below.
