Tata Motors recently took the covers off the all-new Curvv EV concept that previews its future midsize SUV in India. With this concept, the company aims to showcase its next-gen electric architecture and design language.

Here are key facts about the Curvv EV concept:

1. 2022 Tata Curvv EV concept: design

The Curvv EV concept showcases the ‘Digital’ Design language that will eventually make its way to future Tata SUVs. Highlights of the new styling include a curved roofline and a notchback-styled boot. These elements, which are similar to the BMW X4, accentuate the coupe-SUV’s looks. Additional highlights of the Curvv include a full-width LED light bar and triangular air vents.

2. 2022 Tata Curvv EV concept: EV architecture

Being an EV, the Curvv concept showcases Tata’s new Generation-2 architecture, which, though based on the modified Generation-1 architecture found on the Nexon EV, has been designed to accommodate multiple body styles and powertrain options.

3. 2022 Tata Curvv EV concept: battery and range

Tata Motors has not yet provided details for the battery pack of the Curvv EV concept. However, the company did mention that the Curvv will likely feature a battery pack that's larger than the Nexon’s 30.2kWh battery. This will allow the production-spec version of the coupe-SUV to achieve a claimed range of 400-500km.

4. 2022 Tata Curvv EV concept: interiors and features

Focussing on convenience, the new Curvv concept features a panoramic sunroof, a floating centre console layout, a rotary gear selector and a centre armrest. The EV concept also showcases a sculpted, three-layer dashboard with a clean, minimalist design throughout the cabin. Other elements include the two free-standing digital screens for the infotainment system and the instrument cluster, respectively. Finally, the Curvv also gets a new two-spoke steering wheel design.

5. 2022 Tata Curvv EV concept: launch timeline and positioning

While the production-ready version of the Tata Curvv will be launched as an EV, it will be followed up by an internal combustion engine (ICE) version. This will lead to the production-ready Curvv being the first midsize SUV from Tata Motors. With a launch expected within the next two years, the production-spec Curvv will compete with rivals like the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Hyundai Creta.
