Hero Super Splendor all-black variant: same underpinnings
The new all-black variant of the Super Splendor will be powered by the same air-cooled, single-cylinder, 10.7hp and 10.6Nm, 124.7cc engine that's mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The diamond frame, which underpins the Super Splendor, and the suspension set-up is also expected to be carried over unchanged. The bike gets telescopic fork at the front and five-step adjustable dual rear shocks.
The braking set-up is where things differ slightly as the standard bike gets two options at the front – a 130mm drum as well as a 240mm disc. The teaser released by the manufacturer shows this new all-black variant sporting a disc brake at the front, which will most likely be the only option on offer.
Hero Super Splendor all-black variant: price and rivals
Hero has gone down a similar route with its smaller Splendor in the past, by offering an all-black version of the evergreen commuter. The all-black edition of the Splendor costs the same as the Splendor+ i3s drum variant at Rs 71,728 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The disc variant of the Super Splendor costs Rs 81,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi), and we expect the all-black edition of the Super Splendor to cost the same or have a nominal price increase.
The Honda Shine, stablemates Glamour and Passion, and the TVS Raider are the main rivals of the Super Splendor.
