Rynox Gravel Dualsport gloves review

I thought Rishabh was joking when he first told me the price of these gloves. He’d ever so kindly let me have the test unit, and I’d worn it for a full week – on and off the road – before I realised I hadn’t asked what sort of price tag it came with. “Rs 3,150?! You sure?” Apparently, he was, and as it turns out, Rynox does know how to make a terrific pair of gloves and somehow make it retail for a remarkably low price.

The Gravel Dualsport is a part-mesh, part-leather glove – sounds like the right combination for Indian conditions, especially urban use, no? It’s light but feels substantial and, in fact, quite premium too. Having switched from a similarly priced glove – also designed for the same purpose – I found the Rynox’s noticeably better in terms of fit, finish and that ‘expensive’ feel. That explains the shock reaction to the price tag, then.

Rynox’ trademarked Flexprotect armour features on the scaphoid, knuckle and finger joints, and it feels substantial enough to adequately absorb a fast-ish slide in the dirt or on tarmac. Abrasion zones also feature leather panels and the palm has a nice, contoured panel with silicon details that give you the feel of better grip on the handlebar. While it’s definitely designed to look race-y (I love my Hi-Vis Green/Blue; you also have Blazing Orange or Granite Grey colours), the consistent feeling you get is that of absolute comfort. I’ve spent a series of long, hot dirt-track mornings wearing the Gravel Dualsport without once feeling any strain or discomfort. The length of the glove, too, is adequate not only for dirt jerseys – which anyway have long-ish sleeves – but even for your average riding jacket. The simple wrist fastener is finished quite well too and seems built to last.

Of course, Rynox knows how much you love making those Instagram reels when out on your Sunday adventure, so the Gravel Dualsport gets touchscreen-friendly tips on the index finger and thumb. As it turns out, reels are fun to make and get loads of views! On the whole, the Rynox Dualsport is an absolute bang-for-the-buck glove that serves its purpose really well and feels like it’s designed to withstand a fair amount of abuse. I like it for how light, plush it feels, and I think it looks smashing too. I think I’ll get those Blazing Orange ones as well. Just in case.
