Italian manufacturer Ducati will expand its Monster range of motorcycles by adding a new ‘SP’ (Sport Production) variant in the coming months. The upcoming Monster SP falls under Ducati’s plan to unveil seven new models over the next four months.

  • Expected to get upgraded components

  • Different paint scheme also likely

Leaked type-approval filings in Australia have revealed that the SP version of the Monster is on its way. However, there’s no mention of its specifications and the fact that it’s listed alongside the existing Monster variants leads us to believe that the SP most likely won’t see any change in output.

As such, the Ducati Monster SP could be powered by the same 111hp, 937cc V-twin engine as the standard Monster. That being said, expect the SP variant to feature upgraded components and technology over the rest of the range. It could come with a sophisticated Ohlins suspension set-up, lighter, forged alloy wheels, some carbon fibre bodywork and a different paint scheme.

However, all this is just speculation for now and clearer details can be expected closer to the launch. The Ducati Monster is currently priced at Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India) in the country. Expect the SP to cost a good deal more than that.

What would be the ideal price for the Monster SP according to you? Let us know in the comments.
