Hero Vida V1 electric scooter 5 things to know.

When the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer launches its very first electric scooter, it’s probably worth your while to sit up and take notice. Hero MotoCorp finally dived into the electric two-wheeler space with its debut EV, the Vida V1 electric scooter. Here are 5 important things you need to know about it.

Hero Vida V1 e-scooter: Offered in two variants

The Vida V1 will be offered in two variants – Plus and Pro – with the primary difference between them being the battery packs. The lower Plus variant comes with a smaller 3.44kWh battery pack, while the higher Pro variant gets a larger 3.94kWh battery pack.

Hero Vida V1 e-scooter: Charging and range

As a result of this, the two versions of the V1 also have different claimed range figures. While the Plus can do 143km, the Pro manages a larger 165km range figure from its bigger battery pack. It’s worth noting that these are IDC test figures, and real-world range will be slightly lower. The flip side of the Pro’s higher range is that it takes longer to charge, requiring 5 hours and 55 minutes for a 0 to 80 percent top-up with the home charger, compared to the 5 hours and 15 minutes that the Plus needs.

Hero Vida V1 e-scooter: Motor and performance

Both variants get the same electric motor with a 3.9kW continuous output and 6kW peak power. This is good enough for the V1 to achieve a claimed top speed of 80kph, but there is a slight difference in acceleration between the two variants. The Plus is slightly slower, completing the 0-40kph sprint in 3.4sec, while the Pro manages the same in 3.2sec.

Hero Vida V1 e-scooter: Features

The Vida V1 is quite a feature-rich scooter, with both variants receiving the same level of equipment. This includes three riding modes, keyless operation, LED lighting, anti-theft system and cruise control, as well as connected features like turn-by-turn navigation, geofencing and bike tracking.

Hero Vida V1 e-scooter: Pricing and rivals

The Vida V1 will set you back by Rs 1.45 lakh for the Plus variant, and Rs 1.59 lakh for the Pro version. These are ex-showroom prices that are inclusive of FAME-II subsidy, but do not include any state-level subsidies. At this price, the Vida V1 is one of the most expensive electric scooters currently on the market, and is priced above its primary competitors, which include the Ather 450X, the TVS iQube, the Bajaj Chetak and the Ola S1 Pro. We recently put all the V1’s rivals to the test in a thorough comparison, and you can check it out here.
