1Bajaj Auto recently announced the setting up of Chetak Technology Limited (CTL), its wholly owned subsidiary. The purpose of doing so was to operate the Chetak EV arm as a separate entity, focused on design, development and sale of electric vehicles.
- New showrooms to display and sell Chetak
- Exclusive Chetak service centres to be set up as well
Now, in what will be the next step under CTL, the Chetak electric scooter will be sold only via a network of exclusive Chetak showrooms across India.
These exclusive showrooms will showcase Chetak EVs, facilitate test rides, register bookings and take delivery. The network of Chetak exclusive showrooms will expand by sometime around March or April 2023. In addition, the dealerships will also set up exclusive Chetak service centres to carry out maintenance or repair work on the EVs.
It must be noted that, at present, there are already a few Chetak Exclusive showrooms in operation in places like Pune and Thane. However, in some regions like Mumbai, the Chetak was on display and sold via KTM showrooms. Given that the number of EVs under the Chetak umbrella is set to expand and the space crunch at existing Bajaj and KTM showrooms, setting up dedicated showrooms is required.
In fact, a number of electric two-wheeler manufacturers, be it Ather Energy, Hero MotoCorp's Vida or even Ola Electric, have set up exclusive showrooms or experience centres across India. It therefore makes sense for Bajaj's to follow suit with a wide network of Chetak showrooms.
