MG has showcased the MG5 electric estate at the ongoing Auto Expo. It is a Kia Carens-sized electric estate that’s on sale in markets like the UK and Europe. Alongside these models, MG has also launched the Hector and Hector Plus facelifts.
MG 5 estate: exterior, interior and powertrain
The front-end design of the MG5 estate bears resemblance to the MG4 electric hatchback and features details like a closed-off grille that connects the LED headlights, angular air vents and the charging port. Along the sides, the MG5 sports 17-inch wheels, roof rails and a prominent shoulder line that spans the entire width of the car. The rear of the MG5 is quite conventional – a wraparound tail-light with Y-shaped LED elements that are connected via a chrome strip and a sculpted tailgate.
The MG5 has a stylish cabin, with details like blue inserts on the dashboard, AC vents and the edges of the indicator stalks. The prominent high-placed centre console, which is finished in aluminium, features a rotary selector dial and drive mode buttons. Other details include the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with physical buttons placed underneath and a digital driver’s display.
MG has equipped the MG5 estate with a 61.1kWh battery that offers a claimed range of 402km. It powers the front-mounted electric motor to put out 156hp and 256Nm, allowing the electric estate to accelerate from 0-100kph in 7.7 seconds. The MG5 can be charged from 10-80 percent in a claimed 35 minutes via a 150kW DC fast charger.
