Hyundai appoints Tarun Garg as COO, Gopala Krishnan as CMO

Hyundai Motor India Limited, India’s second largest carmaker, elevated Tarun Garg as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on Monday. He will now oversee Sales, Marketing, and Service & Product Strategy, effective from January 01, 2023. Garg was earlier the director of Sales, Marketing & Service.

Additionally, the company has also promoted Gopala Krishnan CS as the chief manufacturing officer (CMO) overseeing Production, Quality Management & Supply Chain. He was the Vice President (Production) previously.

According to Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO Hyundai Motor India Ltd, the elevations stand testimony to the brand's commitment to recognise and appreciate its leadership.

"Our core values define our work culture and stand tall to enhance key roles and verticals as we take a step forward to work incessantly in building meaningful value chain for our customers, partners and employees," he added.

Tarun Garg and Gopala Krishnan CS will continue to serve as full-time directors on the HMIL Board, the company said.

What to expect from Hyundai at Auto Expo?

Hyundai is expected to have a slew of concept cars on display at the event with its focus this year being on autonomous driving tech and electric vehicles. Hyundai is expected to announce prices for the Ioniq 5 in India, which will also be its hero product at the event. The company will also be showcasing the Ioniq 6 electric sedan.

And while Hyundai has not confirmed it, the brand may show another concept previewing its future sub-compact SUV that will go on sale in the second half of 2023. Codenamed Hyundai Ai3, this new vehicle will be a direct rival to the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3, and sit below the Hyundai Venue.
