Honda is readying an all-new, third-generation Amaze for a global debut next year. The current Amaze has already been in the market for nearly five years and only received a mild mid-lifecycle update in 2021. According to sources, the next-gen Amaze will be based on an evolution of the current sedan’s platform.

New Honda Amaze: underpinnings
Honda is already developing a new midsize SUV for India that will be underpinned by an updated iteration of the current Amaze’s platform. This platform is likely to also see duty on the next-gen Amaze compact sedan; although, unlike the former, it will continue to measure under 4 metres in length.
As far as design is concerned, the next-gen Amaze is likely to adopt an exterior design that’s similar to newer Honda sedans like the latest-gen City and even the new Accord sold overseas. In fact, the design of the second-gen Amaze was also inspired by the Accord of the time, and a similar approach will likely be followed for the third-gen model. It will also give the Amaze a family resemblance with the carmaker’s remaining line-up of sedans.
On the inside, expect the new Amaze to get a fresh interior layout, possibly with a free-standing touchscreen set-up seen on the new Accord and the HR-V SUV. There will likely be sharing of interior components with other Honda models in India.
2024 Honda Amaze: powertrain options
For the third-gen Amaze, Honda is expected carry over the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine from the current model. This engine produces 90hp and 110Nm of torque, and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
However, unlike the current Amaze, the next-gen model will not be offered with a diesel engine. The 1.5-litre diesel mill has already been discontinued on the Amaze ahead of the RDE norms coming into effect from April 2023. In fact, Honda will soon stop manufacturing of diesel engines altogether in India.
Honda has previously also offered a factory-fitted CNG kit with the Amaze, although it remains to be seen if the same is offered with the next-gen car.
2024 Honda Amaze: launch timeline and rivals
The next-gen Honda Amaze will likely debut in the second half of 2024. Upon launch, the new Amaze will continue to rival the likes of the recently new Hyundai Aura and the Tata Tigor, as well as the Maruti Dzire, which is also due for a full model change in 2024.
