Mahindra is set to add another variant of the Scorpio Classic. This variant is likely to be called the Classic S5 and will sit between the Classic S and Classic S11 trims. This new trim has been introduced as the Classic S11 does not sell much as it is priced closer to the Scorpio N.
- Scorpio Classic S5 to get 3 seating configurations
- Will get the same 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine
- Expected to be priced around Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom)
Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5: what will it get?
The Scorpio Classic S5 will be offered with three seating configurations – 7-seater with bench, 7-seater with captain’s chairs and 9-seater with bench. The other variants get a choice of only two from the three options, depending on the variant. However, as per our sources, that is likely to change as the Classic S11 variant will now get a 9-seat configuration as well.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5: powertrain
The Classic S5 will get the same Gen 2 mHawk, 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine producing 132hp and 300Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and sends power to the rear wheels. The Scorpio Classic does not offer an automatic gearbox or 4x4 option that were available on the previous gen model.
Mahindra Scorpio Classic S5: expected price, waiting period
Currently, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic is priced between Rs 12.64 lakh-Rs 16.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect the new Classic S5 variant to be priced around Rs 14 lakh, as it sits between the two models. The existing models – Classic S and Classic S11 – command an average waiting period of around 5-6 months.
