With the XUV400 now on sale, Mahindra’s next mainstream EV contender – the XUV700-based XUV.e8 – is all set to hit the showrooms by late 2024. Mahindra has been spotted testing the XUV700 EV at multiple locations and its own test track at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. As seen in the teaser, the XUV700 EV (XUV.e8), the XUV700 EV coupe (XUV.e9) and the Mahindra BE.05 EV SUV are seen doing speeds of around 200kph.
- XUV700 EV will come with a three-row cabin
- Will share most body panels with the XUV700
- Will get EV-specific design tweaks
Mahindra XUV.e8 will be the EV equivalent of XUV700
Aimed squarely at the upcoming Harrier and Safari EVs, the XUV700 EV, which will most likely get the XUV.e8 moniker upon launch has been spotted testing by our readers more than once. While the final product is yet to be seen, patent design leaks earlier have revealed that the XUV.e8 will carry over most of the body panels of the standard XUV700, and is also expected to have similar interior bits with some EV-specific tweaks.
The XUV700 EV in production spec will have a unique fascia, with the test mules seen on streets looking almost identical to the standard XUV700. Up front, the production-spec XUV700 EV (XUV e.8) will get a full-width LED light bar that will extend vertically into the bumper. The front grille will be all new and completely sealed, and will be flanked by an all-new headlamp design.
The XUV700 EV will continue to have flush door handles, but will come with a new alloy wheel design. There aren’t major changes expected at the back too, however, a connected LED light bar and new rear bumper design can be expected. The XUV700 EV (XUV e.8) will also get unique copper-themed design highlights that made its debut in the XUV400 EV.
