Hyundai India has announced that it will now offer all its models with 6 airbags as standard across the range, thereby becoming the first mass-market carmaker to do so. This follows shortly after the Verna achieved a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.

  3. Verna has scored 5-star safety rating at GNCAP

6 airbags as standard on all Hyundais

While the carmaker already offered 6 airbags as standard on most of its line-up, only the Grand i10 Nios, Aura and Venue were yet to be updated with the same. So long, these models were offered with 4 airbags as standard with 6 available on the higher-spec variants. Now, all models across all variants get 6 airbags.

Earlier this year, Hyundai had also made three-point seatbelts with seatbelt reminders standard for all seats for all models across all variants. Notably, out of the 13 models that Hyundai has on sale in India, 10 come with ESC and hill-start assist control as standard, with only the Exter, Grand i10 Nios and Aura not having it on all variants.

Hyundai has also announced that it has voluntarily sent 3 models to Bharat NCAP for crash testing to begin with, and that more will follow soon, although it hasn’t yet specified what these models are. The results can be expected in the coming months.
