Mercedes-Benz GLC India sales

Mercedes-Benz has reported sale of 12,768 new cars in the period between January-September 2023, but while that’s a growth of 11 percent year-to-date, the carmaker acknowledged delayed deliveries of its SUV range – the GLA, GLC and the GLS – due to ongoing supply constraints, especially in the third quarter of this year.

  1. E-class sedan continues to be the best-seller for the brand
  2. Top-end vehicles contributed nearly 25 percent of all sales
  3. Supply constraints delays GLA, GLC and GLC SUVs

Mercedes-Benz India sales performance: Jan-Dec 2023

Following sales of 8,528 units by the half-year mark, Mercedes sold 4,240 units in the last quarter with the E-Class sedan still retaining the tag of the brand’s best-seller in India. Mercedes also continued with strong momentum at the top-end vehicle segment which comprises the Mercedes-Maybach models, the S-Class, AMG and EQ models. Mercedes recorded 25 percent of total sales year-to-date from the ‘TEV’ segment as the brand calls it, growing 22 percent in the same period.

Unsurprisingly, SUVs continued to be the favourite body style, but Mercedes has been facing global supply constraints for its SUV range. The company says the newly launched GLC also raked up good demand, but most customers are still awaiting deliveries. We have previously also reported to you about supply challenges for the EQB electric SUV.

Two new launches confirmed by Diwali

Mercedes also confirmed two more launches in India by Diwali this year. The teaser image showed the silhouette of two models – one sedan and one SUV – of which we expect the SUV to be the facelifted GLE SUV. A facelift for the GLE was globally introduced in February this year, while the outgoing model has already been delisted from the brand’s India website. It, however, remains to be seen what the new sedan turns out to be.
