After launching a more affordable version of the Chetak EV in the form of the Urbane variant late last year, Bajaj has now given a sizable update to the range-topping Premium variant. The 2024 Premium variant is priced between Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom), which is an increase of Rs 15,000 compared to the earlier model.
- 3.2kWh battery pack with claimed IDC range of 127km
- Higher 73kph claimed top speed
- New TFT dash, switchgear and bigger 21 litre boot
The most significant change comes in the form of the new 3.2kWh battery pack which is rated for a claimed IDC range of 126km. With this step up in battery capacity, charging time has also risen and now a 0-100 percent charge will now take 4hr30min – an increase of forty minutes over the 2023 model. This is likely due to the rating of the onboard charger dropping to 650W from the earlier 800W unit.
Another major addition to the updated Chetak Premium’s feature-set is the new 5-inch TFT dash that finally brings it up to level footing with other EVs in this space. Pairing your smartphone to the dash gives you access to features such as navigation updates, notification alerts and music playback. The caveat here is that these features, sequential indicators and the Sport riding mode are only available if you go for the optional Rs 9,000 TecPac while purchasing the Chetak.
Like the earlier model, the 2024 Chetak Premium continues to come with features such as hill hold assist, keyless ignition and reverse mode.
Last but not least, Bajaj has also endowed the updated Chetak Premium with a bigger underseat storage area with capacity rising from 18 litres to 21 litres.
