Renault India is looking to expand the Kiger compact SUV’s line-up with a sporty variant similar to Hyundai’s Venue N Line that was introduced back in 2022. However, unlike the Korean brand’s compact SUV, the sportier Kiger is unlikely to get mechanical changes, and sport merely cosmetic changes over the standard model.
- Sporty Kiger likely to get cosmetic changes and new logo
- Features likely to be identical to top-spec Kiger RXZ trim
- Unlikely to come with 72hp naturally aspirated engine
Exactly what design changes will be implemented is yet unknown, but we expect the usual contrasting accents on certain body panels and on the brake calipers. In addition, there may be changes to the front and rear bumpers, and Renault may also choose to use its new logo. The interior is also likely to be unchanged, except for a similar racier theme as the exterior. We expect the sportier Kiger variant to be based on the top-spec RXZ variant, and as such, get the same features and safety lists.
Considering it’ll be a sportier variant, it is highly likely that Renault will only offer this version with the 100hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, and not the 72hp, 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine. Whether it will offer both the 5-speed manual and the CVT auto is yet unknown.
Prices for this new variant are expected to be slightly higher than the Rs 10.23 lakh-11.23 lakh that Renault currently asks for the top-spec RXZ Turbo variant. Hence, the Hyundai Venue N Line range – priced between Rs 12.08 lakh-13.90 lakh – will almost certainly cost more than the sportier Kiger. However, as mentioned before, one must remember that the Venue N Line does get a sportier sounding exhaust, and suspension and steering tweaks.
