Cars and SUVs retailing from Maruti Suzuki’s premium outlet, Nexa, have greater discounts during the last week of June, as compared to the start of the month. Dealer sources tell us this is due to the greater backlog of inventory, and relatively slower sales. Among the biggest beneficiaries include buyers of the Grand Vitara midsize SUV, the Fronx compact SUV, and the XL6 MPV. The Baleno, Ignis and Ciaz continue with the same level of benefits, while the Invicto MPV remains on sale without any discounts.

Maruti Grand Vitara
Discounts increase by up to Rs 66,000
Previously offered with total discounts up to Rs 74,000, and a three-year extended warranty (worth about Rs 38,000), the hybrid variants of the Maruti Grand Vitara, which boast an ARAI fuel-efficiency figure of 27.97kpl, now get up to Rs 1.4 lakh in total benefits. The mid- and top-spec Delta, Zeta and Alpha variants continue to get up to Rs 64,000 off, while the CNG entry-level Sigma and CNG trims get discounts worth Rs 34,000 (an increase of Rs 20,000) and Rs 14,000, respectively.
The Grand Vitara rivals a number of midsize SUVs from the Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos to the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor. Priced between Rs 10.99 lakh-19.93 lakh, the SUV is available with a 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine that has 5-speed manual and 6-speed auto gearbox options; a CNG-powered version of the same naturally aspirated engine with just the manual, and a 116hp, 1.5-litre strong hybrid powertrain.
Maruti Fronx
Discounts increase by up to Rs 20,000
While Maruti has recently expanded the Velocity Edition range to include all 14 variants of the Fronx, unsold stock of the compact SUV in Turbo form has even greater discounts now – total benefits are Rs 20,000 higher at Rs 77,000. The standard petrol versions have benefits up to Rs 32,500 (up by about Rs 5,000), while the CNG-powered variants continue to get up to Rs 12,000 off.
The Fronx faces fierce competition in the compact SUV segment from the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite and Toyota Taisor. Thanks to the introduction of the Velocity Edition on even the base Fronx Sigma variant, it is currently priced between Rs 7.29 lakh-12.88 lakh. The compact SUV is powered by either a 90hp, 1.2-litre petrol enigne – with 5-speed manual and AMT options; a 78hp CNG version of the 1.2-litre engine; and a 100hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill with 5-speed manual and 6-speed auto options.
Maruti XL6
Discounts increase by up to Rs 15,000
Discounts on the Maruti XL6 have also increased by up to Rs 15,000; total benefits have now reached Rs 40,000 for the petrol variants, while the CNG trims now get up to Rs 25,000 off. Maruti’s rival to the Kia Carens and Mahindra Marazzo is priced from Rs 11.61 lakh to Rs 14.61 lakh. The MPV comes with a 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine – with manual and auto options – that delivers 88hp when run on CNG.
