MG Gloster facelift

A facelift for the MG Gloster, which has been around in India since 2020, is being readied for market launch. Ahead of its launch later this year, the Gloster facelift has been spied on test yet again, this time revealing its interior design for the first time.

  1. Gloster facelift to get larger touchscreen
  2. Likely to carry over 2.0-litre diesel engine
  3. Launch by the end of this year

MG Gloster facelift: interior, exterior design

On the inside, the Gloster facelift test mule packs a larger touchscreen infotainment system that is now conjoined with the instrument cluster. The drivers’ display will also likely be a fully digital TFT unit with customizable interfaces. The cabin features an all-black layout as opposed to the tan upholstery seen on the current model.

The Gloster facelift will likely borrow Maxus D90 (Lingdi)'s interior.

The Gloster facelift will likely be be based on the Maxus D90 (Lingdi) sold in China by MG Motor's parent group SAIC. The India-spec model could borrow the Maxus SUV's cabin, which gets restyled AC vents, an updated dashboard and a completely revamped center console.

The exterior is expected to be in line with the D90 albeit a few changes like horizontal slats for the large front grille and slightly revised bumpers. The India-spec model will also likely get more chrome bits on the outside, including the front grille. Over the current Gloster, the facelifted model will get redesigned split-LED headlamps with prominent DRLs, new alloy wheels, as well as new tail lamps that are connected together with a light bar running across the tailgate.

MG Gloster facelift: powertrain, expected price

Mechanically, the Gloster is expected to carry forward the existing 2.0-litre diesel engine with both 4x2 and 4x4 drive configurations. MG Motor is yet to announce the Gloster facelift’s launch timeline, but we expect it to go on sale by the end of this year. The three-row SUV is priced from Rs 38.80 lakh to Rs 43.87 lakh, however, the facelift will likely result in a slight price hike.

It will continue to face competition from SUVs such as Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq, as well as the upcoming Nissan X-Trail.
