BMW is yet to reveal the refreshed 2 Series Gran Coupe officially. However, spy shots have emerged showing the updated coupe sedan in a long-wheelbase body style. It essentially appears to be a facelifted iteration of the one sold in India.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe facelift: what's new?

Leaked images show the 2 Series Gran coupe with a completely different front than the existing model. The new face now mimics the recently updated 1 Series line-up and this design update brings the four-year-old 2 Series Gran Coupe more in line with the fresh BMW design theme. The updated look includes a lowered front with angular cuts, upward-swept headlamps, and a wider, more prominent dual kidney grille. The front bumper has a broad chin with a large air dam split into three parts, with two placed at extreme corners.

M Sport models, like the one seen in these images, get more blacked-out treatment, while the standard versions will have ample usage of chrome bits. There aren’t many changes seen on the sides and the doors also look the same as the pre-facelift car. At the back, it gets a more angular boot design with new BMW X1-like taillamps. The license plate location has now been move to between the taillamps from the rear bumper.

The refreshed 2 Series sedan LWB has a wheelbase length that is around 110mm longer than the model that we get in India. It gets longer rear door and a flatter roof when compared to the standard length sedan.

The leaked images are of the LWB iteration of the sedan, which is exclusive to China and competes with the LWB Mercedes A-Class sedan there. The one seen in the leaked images is the BMW M 235 L, which means it’s the top-of-the-line model with performance bits and a long wheelbase. It will rival the likes of the China-only Mercedes-AMG A 35 L sedan, the sole LWB AMG sedan available globally.

Expect the styling tweaks seen on the LWB 2 Series Gran Coupe to trickle down to the standard coupe sedan. Reports suggest that the standard wheelbase model will enter series production in November, which means a launch in India can be anticipated sometime next year.
