The Hero Destini 125 scooter has been on sale for close to 6 years now and in that time, it has remained largely unchanged while both the ICE and EV scooters have kept raising the bar. Now, the company has teased an update for the Destini 125 on its social media and this could perhaps be an all-new generation model too.
- Is still a feature-rich and practical scooter
- Current model’s cycle parts feel outdated in 2024
- Priced between Rs 80,048 and Rs 86,538
Hero Destini 125 update details
The current Destini 125 is powered by an air-cooled, 124.6cc, single-cylinder engine that is rated for 9.1hp at 7,000rpm and 10.4Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. For the most part, the Destini’s underpinnings are par for the course with an underbone frame suspended by a telescopic fork and monoshock. Weighing 114kg - 115kg currently, the Destini 125 is substantially heavier compared to its immediate rivals - the Suzuki Access 125 (103kg-104kg), TVS Jupiter 125 (108kg), Yamaha Fascino 125 (99kg) and Honda Activa 125 (109kg-110kg).

Currently, the Hero Destini 125 rolls on 10-inch wheels and is brought to a halt by 130mm drum brakes at both ends, which are starting to feel a little long in the tooth in today’s scooter marketplace. Especially when all its ICE rivals have at least a 12 inch front wheel and an optional front disc available. With this update, we expect a 12 inch front wheel (if not both) and a front disc brake to be offered on the top variant of the Destini 125.
While some of its underpinnings are a little basic, the Destini 125 packs in a digi-analogue dash (which is Bluetooth-compatible on the XTEC variant), USB charger, pillion backrest and two large storage cubbies on the front apron (very similar to the Hero Xoom. We expect with the updated Destini 125 to continue to be a feature-rich scooter with maybe a few additions.
The Xoom was Hero’s last brand-new scooter that was launched in early 2023 and we expect the Destini 125, with 12 inch alloy wheels at both ends and a front disc brake on the top model. With this update, it is quite likely that some of these changes will trickle down to the Destini 125 and the scooter is likely to get new styling as well. For the time being, the Hero Destini 125 is priced at Rs 80,048 for the LX variant, while the XTEC variant commands Rs 86,538. It remains to be seen if Hero increases the price of the Destini 125 with this update. We will be riding the updated Hero Destini 125 next week so keep an eye out for our coverage.
