New Audi Q5 exterior, interior design
The exterior design is completely new, putting it in line with Audi’s latest design language. It gets a new, slightly smaller grille up front as compared to the outgoing model, flanked by slimmer Matrix LED headlights. The front bumper has also been redesigned. At the rear, the new Q5 gets new connected LED tail lamps and a dual-tone bumper.
On the inside, the Audi Q5 borrows its cabin from the India-bound Q6 e-tron, including the Audi MMI panoramic display that combines the 11.9-inch digital driver’s display and the 14.5-inch touchscreen. There’s also an additional 10.9-inch display for the front passenger, which is an optional extra. It also gets Audi’s new three-spoke flat-bottom and top steering wheel.
New Audi Q5 powertrains, specs
The new Q5 is available with three powertrain options. The entry-level engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol producing 204hp and 340Nm torque, with front-wheel drive or an optional AWD setup. It also gets a 204hp, 400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel with a standard all-wheel drive configuration.
The range-topping SQ5 will be offered with a 3.0-litre, V6 turbo-petorl motor putting out 367hp and 550Nm of peak torque. All engine options are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and come with a 48V mild-hybrid system that generates an additional 24hp and 230Nm torque. The 48V system also enables the use of an electrically driven air conditioning compressor. Audi says that the Q5 range will also get plug-in hybrid tech with a large battery and external charging option some time later.
