Bajaj has recently introduced the all-new Chetak 35 series in India. The new models boast of a series of improvements over the outgoing Chetak variants. It has a bigger battery bringing added range, increased boot space and new features while keeping the overall design the same.
Bajaj Chetak battery: New v/s Old
The battery pack has been upgraded to 3.5kWh from the earlier rated 2.9kWh and 3.2kWh. The battery pack has been upgraded with more energy-dense cells, resulting in an extended range. This improvement boosts the claimed IDC range to 153 km. The scooter comes with a 950W charger, which can charge the battery from 0-80 percent in 3 hours.
Bajaj Chetak Storage: New v/s Old
A welcome change is that the battery pack has been relocated beneath the scooter's floorboard, freeing up more storage space. As a result, the scooter now provides 35 litres of underseat storage as compared to the previous models which had just 21 litres.
Bajaj Chetak features: New v/s Old
The Chetak 35 series includes 3 variants: 3501, 3502 and 3503. The 3501 is the top-spec variant and has a touchscreen TFT console with smartphone connectivity, Google Maps navigation, document storage, and safety features like geofencing. The 3501 is the only variant which gets a key-fob and a lockable glove box on the front of the apron.
The 3502 offers similar features and has a TFT but it isn't a touchscreen unit, this unit has been borrowed from the outgoing top-spec Chetak 3201. The 3502 and 3503 miss out on a lockable glove-box and get two open cubbies in its place. Additionally, the 3503 also misses out on a front disc brake and gets drum brakes at both ends.
The new generation Chetak 35 combines modern updates with the iconic neo-retro design language we've come to associate with the brand. While it retains the classic styling cues of the old Chetak, including the round headlight and flowy design with sculpted body panels
There are several notable updates underneath those panels that set it apart from the current variants. The scooter features an all-new frame, battery, motor, and controller, ensuring improved performance and efficiency.
The design has been refined with sleeker turn indicators, a blacked-out headlight surround, and a slimmer LED taillight, contributing to a more contemporary look. Bajaj has also extended the wheelbase, resulting in a roomier floorboard area and an 80mm longer seat, enhancing rider and passenger comfort.
